Course Description: Building Performance Standards (BPS) are becoming a key part of state and local decarbonization efforts—but what do these targets actually mean in practice?
In this session, you’ll take a closer look at how BPS policies have developed, where they stand today, and what the data behind them shows, including key limitations. You’ll explore the technical foundations of BPS targets across jurisdictions and unpack why “hitting the number” doesn’t always translate to meaningful decarbonization outcomes.
Whether you’re new to BPS or looking to deepen your understanding, this session provides a clear, practical foundation you can apply right away.
Learning Objectives:
*You’ll earn 0.2 CEUs for this course by attending the full session and passing the final quiz with a score of 70% or higher.
*We want everyone to feel welcome and supported. If you need any ADA accommodations, just let us know — we’re happy to help. Email us at elearning@aesp.org.
